Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By installing the SnipChat VS Code extension or creating an account on this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

SnipChat is a developer communication tool that lets you chat with colleagues directly inside Visual Studio Code. It includes:

• Real-time direct messaging (DMs) between users
• Ephemeral and persistent room-based chat
• Code snippet sharing
• A web dashboard for account management

3. Account Eligibility

You must have a GitHub account to use SnipChat. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your GitHub credentials. Accounts found to be automated bots or used for abuse may be suspended without notice.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use SnipChat to:

• Send spam, phishing messages, or unsolicited bulk messages
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Share illegal content or malware
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or disrupt the service
• Use the service to violate any applicable law or regulation

Violations may result in immediate account termination.

5. Free vs. Paid Plans

• Free plan: Messages in public rooms are ephemeral and may be deleted after 24 hours.
• Pro / Team plans: Persistent message history, private rooms, and larger file uploads. Billed monthly via Stripe. Cancel anytime.
• Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled case-by-case — contact support.

6. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of any content you send. By using SnipChat, you grant us a limited licence to store and transmit your content solely for the purpose of providing the service.

7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

SnipChat is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for data loss, service interruptions, or any indirect damages arising from use of the service.

Free plan users acknowledge that ephemeral messages are not backed up and may be permanently lost.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We will notify users of material changes via the dashboard.
